The closing panel of the 14th EURIPA Rural Health Forum 2025 was structured around a contemporary interpretation of the Reformation metaphor and addressed fundamental issues of healthcare systems, education, technology, and moral responsibility towards rural communities.

Moderated by Dr. Alexander Bauer (Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg), Dr. Miriam Dolan (EURIPA), and Prof. Dr. Markus Herrmann (Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg), the discussion focused on the need for decentralization of healthcare governance, locally adapted education models, innovations arising from the community itself, and the strategic use of digital tools.

⦁ Dr. Marijan Gjukić (Austria) – the Opinion HUB and OpinioNet initiatives, offering new approaches to strengthening the professional role and social status of rural physicians through international collaboration and strategic communication with local communities.

The panel balanced critical analysis with a forward-looking vision, challenging the “urban orthodoxies” of medicine and advocating the development of a rural manifesto based on shared values, social justice, and local knowledge. Key themes included moral urgency, cross-sector alliances, and redefining rural medicine as a space of innovation rather than marginalization.
