The Gorski Center is not a place people come to escape work, but a place to open new business perspectives.
Strategic investment: An international perspective of Gorski kotar
Located in a rural area, the center operates both locally and internationally – as a space where solutions are developed that are applicable in different environments.

CENTER ACTIVITIES

Activities include professional development and interdisciplinary exchange. They are intended for experts from the business, healthcare, and public sectors, enabling coordination in real, everyday situations.

FOCUS OF WORK

The focus is on addressing concrete challenges – from workplace health to the organization of collaboration between different stakeholders.
Balancing work and family commitments: Medical Center

MEDICAL CENTER

Center for balancing demanding work and family life
It offers guidance and support in organizing the everyday life of modern families, strengthening family bonds, and protecting mental health.

It provides lasting help to people balancing demanding jobs with family care, to singles, and to those facing the challenges of illness or old age.

Dealing with labor shortages: Business Center

BUSINESS CENTER

Center for healthcare professionals in rural areas
Center for mountain destinations
Center for innovative housing
Aimed at employers, medical professionals and local communities, in an international context.

The mountainous location, which is intended to host the administration of virtual support services for the international community of medical professionals, will not only be a coordination center for exclusive destinations, but also a training center for innovative housing and a center for business development and ongoing support in rural medicine.

Achieving Impact Through Tourism: Asthma Center

ASTHMA CENTER

Center for the development of recovery and rehabilitation programmes
The unique location of the Mountain Center — within coniferous forests in close proximity to the sea — creates a natural laboratory for the development of special recovery and rehabilitation programmes for people with asthma.

The Asthma Center is also a place of professional dialogue — a space where different approaches, ideas and business perspectives in contemporary pulmonology meet.

A prime location for over a century

In Delnice, American Street is named after its residents who left for America to work during the last century. Among them, in 1926, was my great-grandfather Nikola Kajfeš.

Amerikanska 3 is a site with a century-long tradition. On the 100th anniversary (1926–2026) of his departure to America, I pay tribute to the emigrants of American Street and initiate the development of the Business and Medical Center as a development platform for future generations.

A century of entrepreneurship

The business history of Amerikanska 3 began with my great-grandmother Antonija, who built the property and managed a shop and an inn on American Street.

Over time, the premises housed an insurance office and a notary public office, making the building well known beyond the borders of Gorski Kotar.

A century-long foundation of medicine

The Gorski Medical Center builds upon the medical tradition of the family and pays tribute to my uncle, surgeon Dr. Josip Kajfeš.

Medical activity at Amerikanska 3 in Delnice began even before the Second World War with the work of the district epidemiologist. In the 1960s, a dental practice with an X-ray unit operated there.

In 1991, the first private physical therapy practice in Croatia was opened. From the same address, the first mobile electrotherapy service in patients’ homes was launched.

Since 1993, the headquarters of Hedela has represented a precursor to the coordination of medical resources, particularly in respiratory diseases. One of the first public-private partnerships in healthcare in Croatia was also established in Delnice.

The Asmal patient association has its roots here, where multimedia materials and a magazine for asthma patients were created.
In 1996, I initiated the first telemedicine consultations in Croatia, and members of the organizing committee of the first telemedicine conference in Croatia met at this address.

A hundred years ago, my great-grandfather left this street to seek opportunity in the world.
Today, from the same address, I am launching a platform through which international activities are conducted from Delnice.
